Baptist Health "chalks the walk" for mental health
Richmond Register - 9/9/2023
Sep. 9—Sierra Marling
In 2022, 49,449 lives were lost to intentional self harm in the United States.
According to Baptist Health Richmond, talking openly about mental health can be a preventative measure to keep people safe.
So, they invited their staff and community partners to "chalk the walk" in a colorful effort to bring attention to mental health for National Suicide Prevention Awareness Week.
A Facebook post from the hospital said the initiative is meant "to encourage nonjudgmental conversations about getting help and treatment."
The Richmond Police Department also joined in, posting photos online of officers writing inspiring messages and drawing pictures in front of the police department.
Anyone in crisis can dial "988" to be connected to the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline to speak with a clinical mental health professional for support and help.
